Persuading
the Council to introduce the contraflow cycle lane on
Leytonstone High Road as part of the one way system in
1999
Helping to get the contraflow cycle-lane approved
in Manor Road, Leyton.
Giving the Council the idea for the 'Transport
Choices' map produced by the Council in 1999.
Persuading the Council to agree to rebuild the
Whipps Cross roundabout after providing evidence from
our cyclists survey there in 2000.
Using a petition to get Lea Valley Park Authority
to modify a barrier at the entrance to Walthamstow
Marshes, allowing cyclists easier access in 2000.
Co-organising with the Council a ride in National
Bike Week for the past four years, some of which have
attracted over 30 cyclists.
Encouraging the Council to redpaint the cycle-lanes
on Leyton High Road 2002
Persuading the Council to put in more cycle stands
in Walthamstow High Street in 2002.
Getting safety alterations planned for the junction
of Oliver Rd and Ruckholt Rd in Leyton following complaints
from our members.
Getting the Council to plan for a new road bridge
on Ruckholt Road due to safety concerns of our members
(delayed due to Railtrack).
Getting the Council to install direction signs
leading to the Green Man roundabout, Leytonstone in
2002.
Achieving a secure parking shed for cyclists at
Walthamstow Central station in 2003 following sustained
requests from our group. This is the first smartcard
operated bikeshed in the country.
Helping set up and run the successful Bike Recycling
Scheme in 2003 which won the award for Best Community
Cycling Scheme in London that year.
Carrying out a survey of cycle parking in the
borough 2003
Getting the Council to make alterations to some
of the speed humps in Coppermill Lane in 2004 following
complaints from our members.
Getting the Council to agree to install lighting
and a pavement in Coppermill Lane.
Achieving
the removal of the awkward barrier by Springfield Marina
in 2005 following letters to Lea Valley Park
Devising a cycle route from Leytonstone to Marsh
Lane in 2005.
Successfully lobbying the Council for a CCTV camera
at Coppermill Fields, Nov 2006.
Persuading the Council to change policy on traffic
calming from speed cushions to speed humps Dec 2006.
We have helped block the approval of a set of
flats in the High Street which would have had insufficient
cycle parking.
